This is a list of the Quran reciters whose recitations can be heard in Muslim Chat — in the app's Quran and on the Surah pages of this website. Each recites the whole Quran, all 114 Surahs, in the murattal style.
What is a qari?
A qari (قارئ, plural qurra) is a reciter of the Quran — someone who has learned to recite it with tajweed, the rules of correct pronunciation, usually from teachers whose chain of learning reaches back to the earliest generations. Many qaris are also huffaz, who know the whole Quran by heart, and many serve as the imam of a mosque.
Murattal and mujawwad
Recordings of the Quran come in two main styles. Murattal is measured and unhurried, easy to follow along in the Mushaf; it is the style for daily listening, learning and hifz. Mujawwad is slower and more melodic, with long, ornate phrases, and is usually performed for listeners at gatherings and on radio. All six recitations in Muslim Chat are murattal.

Choosing a reciter
In the Muslim Chat Quran, press Listen on any Surah, then tap the recitation bar to choose the reciter, the speed, and whether an ayah or a page should repeat. On the Surah pages of this website, the reciter is chosen next to the Listen button, and your choice is remembered. Recitations can also be saved on the device for listening without internet.
