A Mushaf (Arabic: مصحف) is a written copy of the Holy Quran. Muslim Chat has the two editions most read today: the Indo-Pak (Hafezi) Mushaf of South Asia and the Madani Mushaf printed in Madinah.
Meaning
A Mushaf (مصحف, plural masahif) is a written copy of the Quran, bound as a book. The text of every Mushaf is the same; what differs from one edition to another is the style of the letters, the signs that guide the reader, and how the text is laid out on the page.
The Indo-Pak Mushaf
The Indo-Pak Mushaf is the edition most familiar to Muslims of Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Its letters are drawn in the bold style taught across South Asia, with fuller vowel marks and extra signs that help readers who are not native speakers of Arabic.
Its 15-line edition is often called the Hafezi Mushaf, because huffaz learn from it: every Para begins at the top of a page and almost every Para fills exactly 20 pages, so a hafiz always knows where he is. In Muslim Chat it has 610 pages, and a page may begin in the middle of an ayah.
The Madani Mushaf
The Madani Mushaf is printed by the King Fahd Complex in Madinah and is read throughout the Arab world and far beyond. It is written in the Uthmanic script by the calligrapher Uthman Taha, following the spelling of the copies sent out by the Caliph 'Uthman.
It has 604 pages of 15 lines. Every page ends at the end of an ayah, and every Juz begins at the top of a page.

Reading the Mushaf in Muslim Chat
